The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) was passed by congress in 2003. This passage created certain mandates, to protect individuals from prison rape. The act also created the National Prison Rape Elimination Commission, which was charged with developing standards for the elimination of prison rape. These standards and subsequent Department of Justice rules, became effective in August 2012.
Over the past few years, many local correctional facilities have contacted P2 Controls to see how we can help them become PREA compliant with the new standards and rules. Many facilities have found funding shortfalls, we can help!
